For brothers Michael and Mark Polish, low budgets are not an obstacle. The first time the world saw their abilities, was on 1999 with Twins Falls Idaho on the indie circuit. They have done together also films like Jackpot, Northfork and The Astronaut Farmer. This time, the Polish bring the audience a movie that really evidence the love between women and men, and as far as the production is concerned, is the result of becoming a worker of your passion.
For Lovers Only is the new Polish brothers film, produced with low budget but also low tech. This script have been in the drawer since they were teenagers experimenting the sweetness of live. Here is the geniuses: they spend not even a cent, then they earn everything from download distribution that started on july 2011. Mark says they “were surprised how global the movie became so quickly (…) Independent film lovers everywhere became a big, global group and supported it. You used to build a small niche in the U.S. and then take your film from one country to the next to build a global audience. Now you click a button and everybody has access to it all over the world.”
Mark and Michel arrange the best tech to hide and not pay taxes using public places for shooting. For that reason they used Canon EOS 5D Mk II camera, which let any cinematographer shoot on a crowded place looking like tourist. Michael tried 5D camera and decided to shoot and direct at the same time; sometimes they used 2 cameras simultaneously, Mark handled one and the other was set on a tripod, unattended, to act as a B-camera.
Expenses on transportation, hotels, lighting and other were omitted, Mark have said: “I didn’t even have a bounce card (…) The only time I brought any light to a scene at all was for a scene where Mark and Stana are making out in a club. I put my iPhone into flashlight mode to get a little light on them.”
For Lovers Only is back into 60′s, the story of Yves (Mark), a photographer who runs to Paris to get in touch with his ex-girlfriend Sophia (Stana Katic). They drop off everything to live their love through France by car, motorcycle, walking and anything else the love demand. So, drop of everything and enjoy this film downloading it from Apple iTunes like thousands of others have done.
